How Googling Is Damaging Our Earth?

In Today's information technology era getting information about anything is just a click away with the help of search engine present on the web. Google is the biggest search engine present on the web. Do you know that your search on Google ( Googling) is damaging the our earth?

Google's Engineer found out that an average query use about 1 KJ energy and emitts 0.2 grams of carbon dioxide.

To add some context below is data about the CO2 impact of some everyday activity and item compared to Google searching.

850 Searches----> CO2 emission of an average daily news paper.

1050 searches----> A glass of orange Juice.

10,000 searches----> A five mile trio in the average U.S. automobile.

15,000 searches -----> a Cheeseburger

31,00,000 searches------> Electricity Consumed by the Average House Hold in a month.

above data shocked me first time but i am too much worry about the future of of the Internet because energy used by computer is growing . there are more than 1 billion PC and laptop currently in use , and that number is expected grow to 4 billion by 2020 so we can imagine electricity consumed by PC and Googling impact in future.

Google is working hard to provide their user with the fastest product using the least amount of energy. Google have a team of dedicated engineers focused on designing and building most efficient data centres in the world.

Google also have successed to manage to cut energy usage in Google data centers by over 50 percent so this mean Google is using less than half the energy to run our data centers as the industry average. this efficiency mean your personal computer will consume more energy than Google will use to answer your query.
