Search the Internet from Windows Search in Start Menu

n a typical Windows system, Windows Search is a program which eats up resources but very less used when compared to other apps. Windows 8′s search is really awesome with its fast and amazing IE view, but Windows 7 don’t have the feature of searching the web from the Windows Search program directly. Here is a small trick which makes your Windows search in Start Menu to search content from the Web.

For this you need to tweak the Windows Registry a bit. Lets do this:
  • Open Registry Editor by typing REGEDIT in Run (Prompt) and then navigate to the below path.

* Explorer may not be found in some Computers. So we need to create it. Just right click on the right pane in Windows section and create a new key and name it as Explorer.

  • Now create a new 32 bit DWORD by right clicking on the right side pane of Explorer section and selecting New -> DWORD (32 Bit) Value, and name it as AddSearchInternetLinkInStartMenu.

  • Now double click on the new DWORD we created and change the value from 0 to 1.

  • That’s all, we are done, Now Restart your PC or Restart the Explorer.exe process from the Task Manager and Search from the Start Menu. There will be an option to search the Internet with your default browser in the Start Menu.
