How to Enable Enhanced Protection in Google Chrome

 

Google Chrome is one of the most popular web browser over the internet with market share of 65 to 67 % as of October 2023. Reason behind popularity of Google Chrome is its speed, simplicity, and integration with Google services. Google has implemented several advanced security measures to protect its 1 billion Chrome users through a feature called Enhanced Safe Browsing. This feature is designed to provide stronger protection against phishing, malware, and other online threats. Here’s how Google is defending Chrome users with Enhanced Protection:

Google Chrome safe browsing is powered by its powerful real time threat protection to protect user in real time from online threats  phishing, malware injection, and downloads from suspicious source. Google have Safe browsing server when we enter website URL in address bar of Google Chrome immediately Chrome URL to its Safe browsing server and URL get checked weather it is suspicious or not. 

If URL entered is suspicious it will give warning. Google chrome does same procedure for file downloading. With the help of machine learning module Google warn user if a website is phishing or malware website. It is recommended that use Google Chrome with sign in with your Google account it will help to sync security data across your devices weather you are browsing with your desktop, laptop, or mobile device.

How to Enable Enhanced Protection in Google Chrome-:

Open Google Chrome browser and click on 3 vertical dots as shown in below image and then Click on Settings As shown in below image.



Now In the left-hand sidebar, click on Privacy and Security. As Shown in below image.


Now under Privacy and Security Click on Security as Shown in below image.

Now in Security section enable the Enhance Protection as shown in below image.


One thing you should keep in mind that Enhanced Protection sends additional data to Google, such as URLs and system information, to provide real-time security because Google uses machine learning technology which requires data. If you’re concerned about privacy, you can choose Standard Protection instead.
